Before joining Harley Street Medical Centre, Dr. Kalpana Raman was working as a Clinical Psychologist at the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology (ACPN). She completed her Doctorate (PhD) from Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand and is officially enlisted in the Dean’s Honors Roll. She has completed her Master’s in Philosophy (M.Phil) in Clinical Psychology from National Forensic Sciences University, India, in 2015 ranking first place, and obtained merit in Masters of Science in Developmental Psychopathology from Durham University, UK in 2012. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR by the EMDR-HAP and EMDR-Asia), completed her first level certificate as a Systemic Marriage and Family Therapist from University of Calgary, Canada in 2023 as well as Level 1 certificate (scholarship) in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy from Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, USA in 2022. She is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Department of Health (DOH, Abu Dhabi), Dubai Health Authority (DHA, Dubai), New Zealand Psychologists Board (NZPB, New Zealand), Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI, India) and a member of Singapore Psychological Society (SPS, Singapore).
Dr. Raman worked in clinical settings in public and private hospitals and centers in India and New Zealand since 2013. Before moving to the UAE in 2023, Dr. Raman worked in primary mental health as well as government hospital in New Zealand, providing services in the Auckland Spinal Rehab unit and adult rehab and health of older people since 2020. While in India (2013-2020), she worked in a specialist neuro-rehab and psychiatry clinic as well as governmental and private hospital settings such as Medanta-The Medicity, a renowned quaternary care hospital in India. She is a keen researcher and continues to have an active role in training aspiring psychologists in India and New Zealand. She is a Casual Lecturer in a university in New Zealand. She is also a professional supervisor for other mental health professionals.
