Dr. Barrios holds a specialist degree in Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery and a PhD from the University of Navarre, Spain. He trained in the University of Oxford, UK where he finished his CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery. He is a Member and a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK and a Fellow of the European Board of Orthopedics and Traumatology (FEBOT), as well.
Dr. Barrios also completed fellowships in reconstructive hip and knee surgery at Harvard University, spine surgery at Louisiana State University, USA, and upper limb surgery at Northampton General Hospital, UK. He has also been granted an AO (Association for the Study of Internal Fixation) International Travelling Fellowship (Davos, Switzerland) and visited trauma centers in Germany, Switzerland, Thailand, Singapur, and the USA.
Previously, he practiced in a number of reputed hospitals of the National Health Service (NHS), UK such as Milton Keynes University Hospital, Northampton General Hospital, John Radcliffe Hospital, and Nuffield Orthopedic Centre.
Dr. Barrios is the recipient of many prestigious awards and scholarships and has published extensively in relevant international journals. He is an editor of the Orthopedics and Rheumatology open access journal (OROAJ), Juniper publishers, USA.
His special interests are spine surgery, sports medicine, knee and hip surgery, as well as shoulder surgery. He continues to broaden his knowledge and skill set by attending authoritative scientific meetings and courses.
